突然の Mac Pro 発表には不意を衝かれたひとが多い。

なぜ今？

尋ねたいことはたったひとつだ。ハードのスペックなんかではない。あと数日すればキーノートだというのに、一体全体なぜ新製品を発表したのかということだ。彼ら［アップル］の返事は満足いくものではないが、ともかく公式にはこういうことだ。

アップルの公式回答

「これらの新製品について我々はとてもワクワクしている。我々の顧客もきっとそうだと思う。だから一刻も早く顧客の手に渡るようにして、2008 年の幕開けにしたいのだ。両機種とも今日から入手可能だ。」

“We’re very excited about these new products and we think our customers will be too, so we wanted to kick off 2008 by getting them into our customers’ hands as soon as possible. They’re both available starting today.”

そうかい、そうかい、分かったよ。キーノートと関係があるのじゃないのかい？　ゼロから設計した新しい、セクシーなデザインのデバイスの発表に、邪魔にならないようにするためじゃないのかい？　答えは Steve のみぞ知る、だ。答えがなんであれ、ひとつだけはっきりしていることがある。今回の発表は氷山の一角に過ぎないということ・・・
